Sagittarius New Moon – Waiting to Exhale? Breathe

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

It feels to me as I interact with friends or walk through a department store or even attend social events that everyone is just plain shell-shocked. Events since September have shaken our comfortable world and now we are “waiting to exhale.” Surely, things will settle down soon and go back to normal (whatever that is), you may think.

Even folks who have plenty are feeling insecure and cautious, unready to move into the spirit of the season. The shell-shocked have pulled back into their fox holes. Anyone else notice this besides me?

Well, I don’t want to seem like I lack compassion, but we are in for a much longer period of uncertainty and change. Retreat may be the first response (a subtle form of denial), but as time goes on we need to consider a strategy that is sustainable for the next several years as we recreate the foundations of our society.

The Saturn/Uranus opposition continues until July 2010 at the same time as we move ever closer to the even more profound transformation of Uranus square Pluto from 2012-15. That’s a long time to hold your breath.

If you are waiting to exhale, I suggest you start breathing again soon or risk falling unconsciousness from fear. Sure, we are influenced by others to some degree, but if you are reading this newsletter, you are already someone who is conscious and thinks outside the box.

For example, if you completely stop spending you will shut off the flow of the Universe to you, which operates on circulation as we give and receive. The trouble we are in resulted from people motivated by greed with ability to corner resources into the hands of a few.

Instead, consider buying locally this holiday. Make you purchase count toward sustaining those business in your own backyard you’d like to see keep their doors open. The tide is moving toward local commerce and community actions to preserve a thriving standard of living that’s not dependent on high transportation costs.

Below are personal strategies for staying balanced:

.. Focus on something positive, like loving friends, loyal pets, and kind neighbors
.. Remember the bounty you have in your life right now (don’t worry about an unknown future)
.. Disregard the negative energy coming from the media (perhaps turn off the TV, put down the paper)
.. Laugh at the absurdities of life and laugh some more
.. Don’t isolate yourself, create community by gathering with others
.. Be sure to get a good night’s sleep (everything’s easier when rested)
.. Enjoy an inspirational book, poem or song everyday
.. Meditate and feel the inner Peace that nothing can disturb

If you have personal strategies of your own, send me an email. I will share it everyone next month, with or without attribution depending on your choice. We can learn from each other!

By all means, cherish this day (Thanksgiving) and make every day this year one full of appreciation.

A Quote of Note

“There is a great deal of difference between loss, change and transformation. A loss is a step backwards. A change is an opportunity. Transformation is a step forward. The common denominator of these three realities is the fact that one must give up something. It is possible for both loss and change to lead to transformation. But it is not possible for transformation to occur unless something is lost and something is changed”
