Dying or Being Born

Looking out at the world and its problems, it is easy to see what isn’t working – what is broken or in the process of decaying – and worry about how our present way of life is going to survive. Instead of worrying about what is dying, I believe we would be better served to think about what is being born.

In any age, life is always moving through the cycle of birth-death-birth, however, we are living at a moment in history when it seems the number of circumstances moving into the death cycle is accelerating. It is easy to fear what is ahead.

However, thinking holistically, I think it is because so much is breaking down within our society that we can be assured there is an equally large wave of new possibilities ready to be born.

It is pointless to put our attention on what is dying unless we use it to rule out what no longer works. Something really new is on the horizon. It may address old problems, but I suggest it will do so in a way that looks nothing like that past and will be revolutionary and powerfully innovative in its nature.

How do I know? Uranus moves into Aries (5/27) with Jupiter soon following (6/6). They will meet (1st of 3 times) in 0 degrees Aries – a powerful, world-altering degree. This planetary pair brings about great genius and brilliant breakthroughs – scientifically, technologically and socially.

You and I can contribute to a positive future by focusing our attention on what we wish to be born. Hold a vision of how you’d like life to change so that you can find more love, meaning and fulfillment in your relationships, your job, and your way of living on the earth. Take actions that lead in the direction of your vision. Find organizations or projects that carry the spirit of your vision and contribute your time and money toward that outcome.

Also, remember the new world you seek is already within you, ready to manifest very personally as you. It might include changing choices about consumption, greater openness to listening to others, or a deeper appreciation for the beauty of life in every moment. You can paint a new future in broad strokes or in subtle lines, but you can’t do it at all while being focused on the past.

Perhaps it is truer now than ever before that the past does not write the future. When you feel yourself getting anxious, notice how you may be focusing on some aspect that is dying. Instead, put your attention on what is possibly being born in this situation.

There is much to be hopeful for and much that needs to die. As for me, I choose to consciously look for what is being born.

Astrological Events

NOTE: These days contain strong energies that influence everyone to a greater or lesser degree. For more personal information, consult me or another astrologer.

Thu May 13, 9:04 PM ET – NEW MOON at 24 Taurus

At the New Moon of Taurus, we think of our security needs and appreciate the natural cycles of life as lived through the five senses – good food, comfortable surroundings, physical affection, etc.

If you wish upon the New Moon (within 3 days before or after), you have the possibility of fulfillment by the time of the Full Moon. Taurus New Moon wishes relate to: money, sensual pleasure, contentment, perseverance, patience, self-worth, and releasing stubbornness.

Mon-Wed May 17-19 – Venus in Gemini squares and Sun in Taurus sextiles Jupiter in Pisces, Venus in Gemini squares and Sun in Taurus trines Saturn in Virgo, Venus in Gemini trines Neptune in Aquarius, Sun in Taurus squares Neptune in Aquarius, and Venus in Gemini squares Uranus in Pisces

Over this three-day period, what you love (Venus) and your mission in life (Sun) are being influenced by the need to think expansively (Jupiter). Yet practicality (Saturn) is needed as you seek to manifest your vision (Neptune). This is a dynamic, creative time. Welcome unexpected (Uranus) possibilities.

Sun May 23 – Jupiter in Pisces opposes Saturn in Virgo, Venus in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn

The interplay between the planets of expansion (Jupiter) and contraction (Saturn) reaches the “full-moon like” opposition point of the cycle that began in Taurus in May, 2000. Testing our priorities, it may be time to be frugal and cut back on wasted time and needless expenses. If you feel your freedom restricted by too many responsibilities, new choices can bring these two different, but necessary, energies into balance. Intense relationship interactions (Venus-Pluto) may raise passions. Will it be love or hate?

Thu May 27, 7:07 PM ET – FULL MOON at 7 Sagittarius, Uranus moves into Aries

The Sag Moon empowers enthusiasm and expansiveness; time for fun and games. At nearly the same time, Uranus moves from Pisces where it has changed belief systems to the fiery, pioneering sign of Aries.  Look for ground-breaking, paradigm-crashing innovations in the world – from awe-inspiring inventions to socially-disruptive protests. During the next seven years revolutionary changes will be taking place.

Sun-Mon May 30-31 – Saturn in Virgo turns direct, Neptune in Aquarius turns retrograde

Two outer planets changing direction within hours of each other signifies energy fluctuations. Although Saturn’s movement bodes well for moving projects forward, a retrograde turn for Neptune can create confusion and uncertainty. Not sure what to do? Wait a few days for more clarity.

Fri Jun 4 –Mars in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius

It could be a day when you would like to skip out of work early without finishing the job. If you feel frustrated and unable to get things accomplished, it might be best to leave, but don’t think the task will go away. It will greet you again on Monday.

Sun Jun 6 – Jupiter moves into Aries

Jupiter joins Uranus in the sign of Aries. Initiative, experimentation and impulsiveness are getting a huge green light from Jupiter for the next year. Jupiter will expand the Martian tendency to be self-centered and cocky as well.

Tue Jun 8 – Jupiter conjoins Uranus in Aries

Although Jupiter meets up with Uranus every 13 years, they haven’t met in Aries since 1928. Sudden breakthroughs in science and technology are possible; unfortunately, so are sudden eruptions of violence. Freedom of expression will be demanded by anyone who believes they have been wronged. The originality and brilliance of this pair offer the most hopeful sign for solving current problems.
